Title and Summary
Vice President, Risk Management – Europe Risk Program Lead OverviewThe Europe Risk Program Lead Europe plays an important role in advancing Mastercard's risk management program in the region, working with business owners and risk functions to ensure that the region stays ahead of risks as the business evolves.
The Risk Program Lead is a first line role, supporting the business unit's Risk Champion in implementing risk management activities across the business and managing day-to-day risk management operations.
Responsibilities
• BRCC Management: Leading the operational elements of the BRCC, including ensuring the BRCC meets at least quarterly, coordinating the BRCC agenda leveraging guidance in the BRCC pro forma agenda, working with risk owners and other key stakeholders to prepare BRCC content and meeting materials, tracking action items to closure, etc.
• Enterprise Risk Assessments: Facilitating periodic Business Unit risk assessments; coordinating these risks with the appropriate 2LoD function, ensuring related risks are logged and managed in a risk register
• Operational Risk Assessments: Implementing and coordinating with business owners the relevant risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs) across the high operational risk processes, facilitating the capture and evaluation of issues related to controls and their subsequent remediation (issues management), as well as the tracking, evaluation and assessment of loss events.
• Risk Workshops: Coordinating and facilitating risk workshops (e.g. to conduct risk and control assessments (RCSAs), issue management, to identify new and emerging risks, etc.)
• Risk Heat Maps: Developing, managing and maintaining the Europe ERM risk heat map, tracking the progress of risk mitigation plans and challenging risk and action owners on the timely completion of mitigation plans
• Risk Registers: Maintaining Business Unit risk registers utilizing approved GRC tools (e.g. OpenPages or Archer)
• Risk Committees and Escalation: Ensuring that key risks and their mitigations are regularly discussed at the BRCC meetings and escalated to the ERC or to the MCE Board or sub-committees, when required
• Coordination with 2LoD (Second line of defense): Aligning and coordinating risk management activities and deliverables between the Europe business and relevant second line risk functions
All About You:
• Background in risk management or similar field. Strong knowledge of the risk assessment framework, GRC tools and the ability to communicate risk information into business insights.
• Broad exposure to business risks across IT, finance and other business areas is essential.
• Ability to drive collaboration across the business and risk functions. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence at all levels, including outside reporting lines
• Partners effectively with others in handling complex and or sensitive issues
• Articulate and highly effective communicator (written, oral presentation)
• Comfortable working in sometimes ambiguous circumstances
• Understands and appreciates diverse backgrounds
