Title and Summary
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Vocalink Limited OverviewAs countries around the world are seeking to develop modern real-time payment (“RTP”) systems, Mastercard is partnering with customers to deliver a suite of solutions to meet their infrastructure, applications and service's needs. Building from our acquisitions in the United Kingdom (Vocalink), Mastercard provides a leading infrastructure ecosystem which supports real-time payment providers, banks, and their customers around the world.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Vocalink Limited's (VLL) regulated business will play a critical role in ensuring financial oversight, sound financial controls, optimal capital allocation, and driving the UK real time payments business strategy. The role holder will report to both the CEO of Vocalink, and the Chief Financial Officer, Real Time Payments. The CFO of VLL will work closely with Vocalink's management team, the Board of Directors and regulatory bodies to align financial operations of the Company's corporate strategy and adhering to regulatory/legal requirements.
Role
Financial Strategy & Leadership
• Develop and execute financial strategies that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making, growth initiatives, and risk management.
• Ensure effective capital management, investment decisions, and financial planning to optimize profitability and liquidity.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance
• Ensure adherence to all financial regulations, industry standards, and reporting requirements.
• Maintain strong relationships with regulators, auditors, and compliance bodies.
• Oversee financial reporting processes to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with IFRS, US GAAP, or other relevant accounting standards
• Implement and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial, strategic and operational risks.
Risk & Financial Management
• Identify and manage financial risks, including credit, market, technology and operational risks.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies, ensuring robust financial controls and policies.
• Guide financial decisions related to business transactions, including acquisitions and investments by providing local accounting/regulatory advice and by monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures; works with Corporate Controllers team to ensure technical accounting issues are identified and appropriately addressed
• Oversee treasury functions, including liquidity management, funding strategies, and capital structure optimization.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as a key advisor to the CEO, board of directors, and the VLL executive team on financial and regulatory matters.
• Support VLL Business and Board obligations and requirements for financial reporting and regulatory reporting requirements for the Bank of England.
• Communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities to VLL, CEO, VLL Board, Mastercard, regulators, and other stakeholders.
Operational & Performance Management
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, target setting, and financial analysis to drive business efficiency.
• Partner with regional and global functions (treasury, network, product, engineering, compliance, legal and regulatory) to drive revenues and profitability.
• Optimize cost structures while maintaining regulatory compliance and service quality.
• Leverage technology and digital finance solutions to enhance financial operations and reporting.
All About You
• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; MBA preferred
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) or financial certification (CFA preferred).
• Extensive experience in financial leadership roles within a payments / banking regulated industry.
• Relevant experience of working in a complex (preferably multi-national) stakeholder environment that includes complex customers and experience of working with regulators.
• Experience engaging with and reporting into a Board of Directors.
• Trusted business partner, influencer, and advisor; experience managing regulatory expectations and developing/presenting executive and board-level financial reporting
• Proven track record in risk management, financial governance, and strategic financial planning.
• Demonstrated history of thoughtful risk taking, business acumen, thought leadership, commitment, and strong sense of urgency
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to build high performing teams, history of strong leadership, teamwork, and the ability to work in a matrixed organization.
• Experience in leading a team that is geographically dispersed and to be part of a geographically diverse team.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Executive presence, ability to influence others and intellectual horsepower
• International experience is a plus as well as geographic mobility
