Title and Summary

Principal, Software Engineering Overview
Mastercard Global Customer Care (GCC) is the B2B and B2C customer support apparatus. We are an innovative and ambitious solutions team focusing on delivering memorable customer experiences through self-service & automated solutions across multiple channels. We follow the best software development and Agile practices to deliver successfully, again and again, for our internal and external customers. Together, you and your partners in Global Customer Care serve as the customer lifeline to the Mastercard organization.

In this role, you will be responsible for proving technical leadership, driving innovation and overseeing the development of complex software solutions to support our GCC organization worldwide. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, developers, quality engineers and product managers to design, implement and deliver high-quality software products. Your expertise and experience in these technologies will be instrumental in guiding technical decisions, ensuring scalability and performance and mentoring the engineering team.

focus on our customers. As a Principal Software Engineer at Mastercard, you are expected to perform
the following general duties:
• Mentor and guide software engineers and leads in the team to improve engineering productivity, quality, and technology policy compliance
• Consult across teams and across program lines to identify synergies and reuse opportunities
• Work on complex initiatives spanning multiple services/programs and drive resolution
• Set and exemplify software engineering standards with hands-on approaches to demonstrate engineering excellence
• Ensure software quality through code reviews, testing best practices and continuous integration processes
Within the GCC CX Technology Program, you are responsible for:
• Providing technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team throughout the software development lifecycle. Leading by example, demonstrating best practices and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
• Collaborating with architects and other stakeholders to define the software architecture, system components and integration points. Ensure the design aligns with business requirements, scalability and performance objectives
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends and best practices. Evaluate new technologies, tool and frameworks that can improve the software development process, enhance system performance and increase team productivity
• Simplifying existing GCC CX Tech processes and technologies

About You
Technical Qualifications
• Expertise in multiple programming languages, such as Java, C++, Python or JavaScript
• Understands Platform-as-a-Service to build applications that run on standardized application platforms and deploy specifications, e.g., Web and application servers, API Gateways, Database Services, and Load balancers
• Familiar with the adoption of standard logging frameworks and tools (e.g., log4j, SLF4J, Splunk) to aggregate and analyze time-series of logs
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and containerization technologies (eg Docker, Kubernetes, etc)
• Has experience in leading and/or coaching teams to perform software planning and estimation for large scale complex programs
• Has skills to drive trade-off discussions to set the right development capacity based on value drivers (e.g., regulatory, security, new business, market parity, technical debt)
• Has deep expertise in building testing strategies covering the integration of all applications and product bundles in ensuring functionality and performance meets (or exceeds) market and customer expectations
• Has skills to simplify deployment and eliminate software and infrastructure snowflakes using standardized platforms, ephemeral instances, and automation
Requirements
• Proven experience in customer facing web portal technologies is required
• Strong Experience in Application development lifecycle and management with a proven track record of executing software development projects in a multi-location setup
• Demonstrated experience building organizational relationships, partnering, and influencing teams
• Ability to synthesize feedback from multiple areas (usability testing, customer feedback, metrics, etc.) to drive continual improvement
