Manager, Communications Manager, Communications, Canada (Leadership and Employee Communications)

Summary

The Communications team is focused on driving programs and activities that evolve, promote and protect Mastercard's reputation among key internal and external audiences. They support the company's efforts in delivering world-class payments experiences and are responsible for all internal and external communications for Canada.
The Manager will be responsible for driving strategic internal communications and employee communications plans/programs that align with business goals to enhance employee understanding, increase engagement, and drive high performance culture.
The Manager of Communications, Canada also be focused on supporting strategic communications programs and campaigns to advance Mastercard's reputation as a trusted, purpose-driven innovator by supporting our leaders and experts. The role will be responsible for elevating the company's innovation position, reputation and brand perception with key external stakeholders including media, customers, prospects, and more.

Responsibilities

Work in collaboration with the Vice President, Communications, Canada and other senior leaders to execute strategic communications programs to advance the company's mission, and evolve, promote and protect Mastercard's brand and reputation.
• Design and implement internal communication strategies that foster transparency, alignment, and a strong organizational culture across all levels of the company.
• Drive employee engagement initiatives, including events, recognition programs, etc., to enhance morale, inclusion, and a sense of belonging.
• Create engaging content and campaigns for internal channels (e.g., intranet, newsletters, Teams, digital signage) that inform, inspire, and connect employees.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support culture-building, and employee experience efforts through effective communication.
• Develop and execute strategic communications that align with executive priorities, enhance leadership visibility, and support organizational goals across internal and external audiences.
• Craft compelling messaging and narratives for speeches, presentations, town halls, media interviews, and thought leadership content on behalf of senior executives.
• Advise and coach leaders on communication best practices, tone, and delivery to ensure clarity, authenticity, and impact in all engagements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with to ensure message consistency and alignment.
• Coordinate executive visits and engagements, including planning and executing employee events, internal leadership meetings, and high-impact customer interactions to ensure a seamless and strategic experience.
• Develop executive communications and briefing materials, including meeting agendas, follow-ups, and preparation materials to ensure leaders are informed and effective.
• Manage special projects and operational tasks, acting as a liaison between departments to ensure timely execution and accountability.
• Manage and optimize complex executive logistics, including calendars, meetings, travel, and events, while acting as a gatekeeper and facilitator for internal and external requests.
• Anticipate needs and priorities, preparing briefs, agendas, and materials, synthesizing meeting notes, and ensuring follow-through on action items in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Measure and analyze communication effectiveness and engagement, using data, feedback, and analytics to continuously refine messaging, formats, and delivery for greater impact and resonance.

Qualifications

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and strategic messaging for diverse audiences, including executives, employees, and external stakeholders.
• Strong project management and organizational abilities, proactive, capable of juggling multiple priorities, managing complex logistics, and delivering high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
• Experience working with senior executives in a cross functional environment
• Entrepreneurial, creative thinker, pursuing new ideas and bringing best practices
• High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, influence across levels, and navigate sensitive or high-stakes situations with discretion and professionalism.
• Analytical and data-driven mindset, with experience using feedback, engagement metrics, and communication analytics to inform strategy and improve outcomes.
• Proficiency in communication tools and platforms, such as Microsoft 365, Teams, survey tools, and virtual event platforms, along with a strong grasp of internal communications best practices and executive support. In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in Canada, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive pay based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
