Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of IS Integration and Application Development, manages all aspects of integration operations including: monitoring of messages, development of new interfaces, and documentation of interfaces. Participates in Project Management, Systems Analysis, Planning and Design, Product Evaluation, and Installation and Support.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 10 Years of Information Technology experience working with Healthcare Electronic Record (EHR) (5 years of experience as an Interface Engineer may be included in above) AND 3 years of experience on major implementation of an EHR or ERP where extensive integration was designed developed and maintained.
Substitutable Education & Experience:
Associates Degree in Computer Technology with 8 years of relevant Information Technology experience (5 years of experience as an Interface Engineer may be included in above) AND 3 years of experience on major implementation of an EHR or ERP where extensive integration was designed developed and maintained.

OR

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Science or a related discipline with 6 years of Information Technology experience including systems analysis and detail design (5 years of experience as an Interface Engineer may be included in above) AND 3 years of  experience on major implementation of an EHR or ERP where extensive integration was designed developed and maintained.
Required Certifications/Licensure: Must be willing to obtain certification in EHR training specific to Lexington Medical Center.
Required Training: Previous demonstrated experience with Health Information Exchange (HIE) and device integration (Extensive integration experience with Lexington Medical Center systems may be considered in lieu of HIE and device integration experience);
Thorough knowledge of electronic data exchange in healthcare environment, including, but not limited to, the following protocols: HL7 and XML;
Proven expertise in the engineering of dynamic interfaces using an integration engine;
Strong information technology background in system administration and integration in a Windows environment using TCP/IP communications;
Solid understanding of desktop operating systems software and Web browser use.

  • Strong analytical and product management skills require, including thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Ability to listen objectively, understand issues and gather information in a supportive problem solving manner.
  • Responsible for high degree of accuracy and control of details; thoroughness, reliability and organization are essential due to overall nature of work.
  • High degree of independence in established field with direct accountability for final results and on occasion may be required to work after hours/weekends.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Excellent customer service skills. Has contact by phone, correspondence, and personal meetings with persons in other departments and outside the hospital.  Tact is required in these contacts and employee assumes the responsibility for harmonious relationships. Ability to demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and grasp new ideas quickly.
  • Requires participation in on-call rotation
  • Ability to work varied hours to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Requires manual dexterity operating a computer keyboard (alpha/numeric keying) and/or spatial device (such as 'Mouse/Track-ball') in fast/efficient manner. 
  • Must be able to visually interpret the computer monitor (distinguishing all colors for graphical user interface software) and interact with a variety of computer development software tools. 
  • Requires ability to read and comprehend extremely complex technical information both on the computer monitor and on printed material formats.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
