Job Summary

Performs manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties to handle all incoming and outgoing packages/materials. Verifies products received against purchase orders and packing slips. Reviews orders for accuracy, packs orders and routes to appropriate destination. Logs and tracks shipments using computer tracking system. Utilizes knowledge of shipping practices and procedures and record keeping requirements. Maintains quality systems compliance.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties; may work out of a central warehouse
  • Uses computer system for tracking, logging, verifying and reporting
  • Follows shipping practices and procedures, and transportation routing, schedules and requirements.
  • Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment. (Un)packs or (un)wraps items such as finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, office supplies, equipment, etc. 
  • Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications; logs receipt of items on system, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents; reports materials shipped and bills of lading; posts weight and shipping charges and routes merchandise to destinations
  • Identifies material requirements for production from engineering and production specifications and schedules. Coordinates and processes material movement and incoming and outgoing shipments between warehouse and production areas
  • Stores finished goods received from factory, fills orders, ships, and delivers merchandise to sales warehouse, wholesale or retail outlets, and customers
  • Substantial acquaintance with and understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job
  • General supervision and instructions given for routine work, and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments
  • Contact with individuals within own department and occasionally with contacts outside own organization. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data requiring some explanation or interpretation
  • Receive material from suppliers, load/unload trucks and deliver to appropriate department/location
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks related to shipments and incoming materials (i.e., make copies, file records, label inventory)
  • Assist in storage and organization of material 
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience and High School diploma or GED
  • Should have a solid knowledge of functional systems and processes 
  • Must be flexible and willing to move between projects and tasks quickly 
  • Must have strong attention to detail, ability to manage own time effectively and produce a high quality of work 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
