DRS Technologies Canada Ltd. (DRS Canada), is a leading mid-tier Canadian defence electronics company specializing in military voice and data communications systems; electro-optics (EO) and infrared search and tracking systems (IRST); command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) systems integration; deployable flight data recorders; and defence/space electronics manufacturing.

 

Purpose:

Performs a variety of receiving tasks to handle all receipt incoming materials and performs tasks related to material handling duties.

 

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Receives material from suppliers, unloads trucks and delivers to appropriate department/location
  • Reviews and verifies items for shipment are consistent with orders placed; confirms quantities, destination, and method of delivery
  • Responsible for sorting, counting, packaging, unpacking inventory which received
  • Documents and communicates to respective Buyer all errors related to orders that are received
  • Enters all applicable data into a computer system for tracking, logging and verifying
  • Performs other miscellaneous tasks related to shipments and incoming materials (i.e., makes copies, files records, labels inventory)
  • Assists in the verification, receipt and distribution of Customer Furnished Material (CFM); i.e. from external customers
  • Assists in storage and organization of material
  • Supports Cycle Count and reconciliation of inventory
  • Assists in the retrieval and disposal of obsolete and excess inventory
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices throughout the stockroom
  • Comprehends and follow applicable ISO procedures relating to inventory
  • Communicates any potential opportunities for process improvements
  • May support Stores Material Handler with filling material demands from manufacturing, Back Orders, Material Transfer and Inventory Adjustment requests
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization

Technical Competencies:

  • Completion of a high school diploma.  A minimum of one year related experience in a manufacturing or technology industry.
  • Materials Management Certificate an asset
  • Certification on Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations an asset
  • Thorough understanding of WHMIS legislation
  • Full comprehension of MRP is an asset
  • Complete understanding of ESD and the precautions required to ensure inventory safety
  • Must pay meticulous attention to detail for all receiving and inventory processes, thus maintaining inventory accuracy and lot traceability
