As a Business Process Intern for the Program Management organization, you will review existing process documents, help identify obsolete or unclear procedures, map current workflows, draft updates to SOPs and work instructions, and support small pilot rollouts. This role reports to the Program Management Director and is an excellent opportunity to learn process design, stakeholder engagement, and practical change management.
Job Responsibilities- Review assigned SOPs procedures and work instructions to find gaps redundant steps and outdated content
- Map current state processes using simple flowcharts and capture exceptions and handoffs
- Draft revisions to procedures and maintain version control in the central repository
- Run discovery interviews with subject matter experts and collect feedback
- Support pilot testing and gather user feedback to refine documentation
- Prepare short summaries change logs and slide updates for stakeholders
- Track progress metrics and deliver a small capstone deliverable by end of internship
- Perform professional administrative staff duties in support of functional areas, gradually increasing in level of difficulty and responsibility
- Contribute to the execution of projects and organizational objectives when asked
- Create graphs and charts for various projects using spreadsheet and graphics software with direction
- Create various documents and electronic information with direction
- Update relevant data using database applications
- Assist in answering questions and/or refer inquiry to appropriate person
- Assist in researching information as needed for projects and other objectives
- Assist in coordinating conferences and special events; assist in making any necessary room rental, reservation or catering arrangements
- Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- May support staff in assigned project based work
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
- High school diploma or GED and completion of 1 semester of college. Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Program Management, Business Administration, Business Operations, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Strong attention to detail good written communication and organizational ability.
- Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Comfortable learning diagramming tools such as Microsoft Project, Visio, and Microsoft Office.
- Curious, proactive, and able to work with supervision on scoped tasks
- Prior coursework or project experience in process mapping or continuous improvement is a plus
