Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking candidates for a Development Scientist position at the R&D facility of a specialty chemical company in West Houston. The overall responsibilities of the position are to provide technical support for the company's products and lead application development projects to expand business opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with R&D teams to test and evaluate new and existing polymers in the lab and pilot plant
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues by offering solutions to improve product performance
- Lead application development projects, ensuring they meet timelines and budgets
- Develop application processes and specialized test methods for new products
- Conduct studies on processing equipment to improve product performance
- Operate lab compounders, extruders, injection molders, and other equipment for testing
- Present experimental results and recommendations to stakeholders
- Collaborate with patent counsel to assess patentability and assist with patent applications
- BS/MS degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field of study
- Strong knowledge of polymer material science, rheology, processing, and film applications
- 2-5 years of experience in testing and characterization of films and plastics
- Familiarity with thermoplastic polymer processing, polymer rheology, and extrusion equipment
- Experience with developing new products
- Ability to travel up to 25% within the US and internationally
