Job Title: Set up Operator - Fluid and Brake Systems
Location: Livonia, MI
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: $22/hr

Position Summary:
Responsible for the setup, operation, and training of new direct labor (DL) employees on the final assembly of all components to create the final products of the Fluid and Brake systems according to blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Primary Responsibilities:
Set up layouts, setup crimping presses, setup leak test, setup final assembly in plastic tubes and steel tubes.
Experience with crimping presses, leak test machines and final assemble machines.
Blue Print Reading
 

  • Understand all components and processes required for the final assembly of the Fluid and Brake systems.
  • Read blueprints to ensure the final assembly is accurate and meets specifications.
  • Provide guidance and instructions to DLs for the safe and productive assembly of all components.
  • Ensure that all parts are built to customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Report any problems or abnormal conditions to the Shift Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Maintain housekeeping and health and safety standards within the work area.
  • Adhere to all corporate and plant-level rules and regulations.
  • Foster a teamwork-oriented environment and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understand the importance of quality and assist in achieving and maintaining IATF 16949 certification.
  • Recognize the significance of environmental practices and assist in achieving and maintaining ISO 14001 certification.
  • Support the Build to Order (BTO) program.
  • Capable of using micrometers and calipers for precise measurements.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; or 5 years of relevant service experience may be considered.
  • Ability to stand for long periods on the manufacturing floor.
  • Decision-making is limited to shutting down processes and contacting the Shift Supervisor or Team Leader when there is potential for producing defective parts.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and set examples for other employees.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the respective assembly cell and capable of training other employees.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Cooperative and committed attitude towards all employees, management, and corporate objectives.

Work Environment/Work Conditions:

  • Manufacturing atmosphere with long periods of standing.
  • Must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the manufacturing floor.
  • Equipment used requires proper training to ensure safety and avoid injury.
