Kelly Engineering is currently recruiting for a (Direct Hire) (Senior Design Engineer) job located in Newnan, GA.

1) Objective of the job
The Senior Design Engineer E3, TVPD Design Department, functions with limited oversight in the creation and/or improvement of parts and/or systems to achieve certain targets for off-road recreation vehicles regarding function, performance, durability, weight reduction, cost targets both investment and piece part, ease of manufacturing and so on.  Thorough proposals are made from self-guided engineering studies based on experience of previous project work creating 3D CAD models, 2D CAD drawings, and BOM under limited direction of design managers.  In TVPD, senior design engineers also may function as project managers overseeing the development of vehicles while leading a team of design engineers in their own detail component development and acting as liaison to all supporting departments with focus on seamless collaboration with the TVPD testing project manager. 
2) Typical parts/components that the Design Engineer E3 at YMMC TVPD develops
              - Chassis welded and/or bolt-on connected with many steel tubes, forgings and stampings
              - All components of suspension and steering systems
              - Driver controls such as steering wheels, pedals, levers and switches
              - Plastic body work
              - Seats and ergonomics
3) Essential responsibilities
- Create 3D CAD models and fully detailed 2D CAD drawings that would achieve certain targets for the parts and/or systems meeting the expectations of Design Managers.
- BOM, revision responsibility and release for the section assigned and full responsibility for all the components in the section.
- Prepare engineering documentation that justifies the design including computer aided simulation results.
- Order proto samples based on the 3D/2D models.
- Problem solving of the proto design/samples if they didn't work as intended with limited oversight from management.
- Communicate with internal cross-functional members and external suppliers to ensure the parts/systems meet their expectations and being able to predict requests prior to CE activity.
- Set deliverables schedule based on experience for prototype and production phases.
4) Routine decision-making
- Determine the most optimized design specification and risk level to achieve the targets based on engineering expertise.
- Propose the most efficient manufacturing process for both proto and production.
- Identify critical items need to be controlled and describe on 2D drawings.
- Self and team assignment management to meet the task schedule.
5) Required knowledge
- Deep knowledge of principles regarding mechanical engineering aligned to ATV and ROV's
- Basic knowledge of motorsports/car technologies.
- Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials aligned to ATV and ROV's
- Deep knowledge of technical problem solving and large breadth of countermeasure experience.
6) Required skills and abilities
- High skill to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- High skill to operate 3D solid CAD system and CAE (FEA, CFD, etc) for complex systems.
- Displays leadership skill and ability to coordinate personnel and resources.
- Good written and verbal communication ability.
- Ability to apply focused mechanical engineering knowledge to real world vehicle design.
- Ability to disassemble/assemble parts on vehicle with no support.
7) Education
- Bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from accredited university. 
8) Preferred experience and interest
- Team leadership experience outside, or display of leadership capability within TVPD department.
- 5 years minimum in TVPD or 5-7 years (min.) experience in similar field
- Experience of one major or a few minor project development cycles at minimum.
- Personal hands-on experience with cars and/or powersports vehicles.
- Personal interest and riding experience with powersport vehicles.
