Senior Chemist

Pay Rate: $35-44 /hr depending on experience
Schedule: M-F First Shift- six months
Purpose of Job:
Laboratory analysis of samples of drug substances and drug products using HPLC/UPLC and GC analytical equipment. Analytical method development, validation and transfer of stability indicating methodologies for actives, related substances and residual solvents. Routine sample analysis; stability analysis; report writing; project team meetings; HPLC/UPLC/GC and other analytical assays. Supervise daily activities of professional and technician level personnel in support of chromatographic testing activities for pharmaceutical, vision care and eye care products.
Key Activities:
- Author method validations, tech transfers, technical assessments & other significant investigations, and procedures according to ICH guidelines, current FDA standards and cGMP's. This includes any extensive projects or investigations that may partner with production department, R&D, or other B+L laboratories.
- Perform GC, HPLC/UPLC, ICP and wet chemistry techniques to be able to separate, identify, and quantify impurities and target compounds accurately.
- Participate in technical reviews and reports of complex data.
- Work with interdepartmental teams.
- Prepare information and reports for presentation to technical and non-technical personnel, including SPC data analysis.
- Function as a leader role for the Department. Provide technical, production assistance to Lab staff to plan/coordinate the lab testing schedule. This includes testing of raw materials, in-process, and finished product testing.
- Prepare and instruct training materials and provide training of Chemistry
- Team staff on existing or new analytical methods or laboratory process procedures.
- Perform production analytical testing, data review and equipment troubleshooting, and repair as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: BS in Chemistry or related discipline
Experience: At least five years previous experience in an analytical laboratory within a regulated manufacturing industry. Must have demonstrated expertise and knowledge in chromatographic techniques (i.e. GC, HPLC/UPLC) and troubleshooting. Previous work in a GMP/ISO laboratory setting is required.
Preferred skills: Demonstrate ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities simultaneously. Critical thinking skills. Formulation experience is an added benefit.
