Job Title: Production Operator I

Pay: $18.00 per hour
Location: Melrose Park, IL
Shifts Available:

  • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Position Summary

We are seeking a detail?oriented Production Operator I to perform precision finishing operations on the working ends of dental instruments. This role involves buffing, grinding, shaping, and polishing instruments after heat?treating and hardening. The ideal candidate works well with their hands, has strong attention to detail, and is committed to delivering high?quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate abrasive belts and wheels to finish hardened dental instruments.
  • Perform precision finishing tasks with varying technical difficulty and excellent eye?hand coordination.
  • Advance through additional product families as skills develop (typically within 1–2 years).
  • Identify quality issues and adjust processes to maintain standards.
  • Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and protractors to ensure accuracy.
  • Follow OSHA and company?specific safety practices.
  • Record all work using bar?code systems or manual logs.
  • Assist in training coworkers on established work procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  1. Minimum 1 year of experience with machines, tools, or equipment—grinding experience preferred.
  2. Basic English reading/writing and math skills.
  3. Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of detail and precision.
  4. Able to work under general supervision and make independent quality decisions.
  5. Willingness to learn precision measuring tools and basic blueprint reading.
  6. Manual dexterity helpful but not required.
  7. Ability to learn new instruments using written specifications or approved samples.
  8. Computer knowledge helpful but not required.
Physical Requirements
  • Minimal to moderate physical strength.
  • Ability to perform fine manual and detailed work for extended periods.
