Description

We are seeking a Packaging Engineer I to join our team in Miami, FL on a 12-month contract. This role will be instrumental in supporting product development projects through existing package designs and exploring new packaging and labeling technologies. As a Packaging Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, perform hands-on testing, and ensure that packaging designs meet the highest quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, technical writing skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Rate: $33 per hour
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Package Design & Development: Work with existing packaging designs and explore new technologies to support product development projects.
  • Packaging Release Support: Coordinate and assist with the release of new and enhanced product packaging, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Testing & Reporting: Write detailed package testing protocols, conduct hands-on product pack-out for testing, and cycle through environmental and distribution test sequences.
  • Documentation: Prepare and submit final package test reports, ensuring thorough documentation of results.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams (Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing) and external suppliers to align on project goals and packaging requirements.
  • Project Management: Track project schedules, ensuring timely execution and managing timelines for packaging tasks.
  • Design Changes: Initiate and implement minor to moderate packaging design changes, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Hands-on Lab Work: Work directly with product in the lab, moving through test sequences to ensure packaging designs perform effectively.
  • Physical Tasks: Handle up to 50 pounds when performing packaging tests and moving products within the lab.
  • Problem Solving: Participate in the analysis and resolution of packaging issues using problem-solving methodologies.
  • Support Global Customers: Provide packaging support for internal and external customers globally.
  • Waste Reduction: Define packaging materials with a focus on sustainability and waste reduction.

Essential Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Material Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0-1 year of experience in a packaging-related, FDA-regulated environment.
  • Technical Writing: Experience in writing technical documents such as test protocols, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO and GMP standards.

Preferred Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with Distribution Testing per ASTM and/or ISTA standards.
  • CAD Software experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Cold Chain/Thermodynamics experience or knowledge.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving and documentation.
  • Comfortable working in a lab setting and handling products up to 50 lbs.
