Materials Planner – Direct Hire
Location: Winsted, CT
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Salary Range: $71,000 – $84,000 annually
Job Type: Full-Time, On-site About the Role:
We are seeking a Materials Planner to join our dynamic supply chain team. In this vital role, you'll coordinate plant inventory, manage production schedules, and ensure materials flow efficiently through the manufacturing cycle. Your work will directly impact our on-time delivery performance, inventory control, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:
- Control and maintain plant inventories to meet financial goals.
- Schedule and manage all OEM and interplant shop orders to meet deadlines.
- Partner with the production team to optimize machine utilization and output.
- Track ball lot progress through the manufacturing cycle; frequent interaction with shop floor employees is required.
- Maintain and improve on-time delivery (OTD) performance and inventory procedures.
- Allocate raw and finished materials (steel and ceramic balls) for quotes and order startups.
- Ensure proper material releases to spec for both steel and ceramic materials.
- Respond promptly to RFQs and order-related inquiries from Sales and Customer Service.
- Maintain strategic inventory levels to support customer service objectives.
- Issue and maintain manufacturing routers; manage forecast orders and split sheet data.
- Monitor plant capacity and provide regular shop load and OTD performance reports.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Inspection, and Customer Service for new or custom orders.
- Support ISO/AS compliance and participate in internal and external audits.
- Provide purchasing support by identifying raw material needs.
- Communicate order delays and changes with Sales/Customer Service teams.
- Assist with ERP transactions, including inventory adjustments and suffix changes.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment in line with 5S standards.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Finance, or Supply Chain Management (preferred)
- Certifications: APICS CPIM, CSCM, or CPM (preferred)
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in scheduling, planning, and inventory control within a manufacturing environment
- Technical Skills:
- Strong Excel proficiency
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems
- Solid understanding of planning tools and production workflows
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities
- Team player with a proactive and positive attitude
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
