Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic / Maintenance Specialist
Location: Winsted, CT
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pay Rate: $35 per hour
We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated Maintenance Mechanic / Specialist to join our team in Winsted, CT. This position will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and optimization of production equipment, ensuring reliability and efficiency across operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, be safety-conscious, and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:-
Perform production equipment repair and modifications using hand tools, power tools, and other handheld tooling.

Read and interpret blueprints and create machine trees; break down machines to the component level.

Maintain inventories for spare parts, tooling, and supplies, ensuring the efficient operation of the production floor.

Assist in the implementation of maintenance plans and execute these plans operationally through the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and factory resources.

Analyze equipment maintenance data, KPIs, and historical records to identify and propose improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Provide technical support to the maintenance and production teams, including offering advice on digitalization solutions.

Implement technology upgrades to enhance asset reliability, including Condition Monitoring projects on a full factory scale.

Contribute to the development of the Preventive and Autonomous Maintenance programs.

Manage work order records and essential files to analyze maintenance performance and identify areas for improvement.

Update Preventive Maintenance routines and standard job plans based on breakdown root cause investigations.

Measure and analyze the effectiveness of the maintenance program using performance indicators.

Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager on Maintenance Excellence Deployment activities.

Support training and development of maintenance personnel on SKF Maintenance Excellence principles and methods.

Write detailed job plans for maintenance activities.

Operate forklifts and other equipment as needed.

Perform other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and other mechanical equipment.

Strong ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documentation.

Experience creating machine trees and performing machine breakdowns at the component level.

Knowledge of inventory management for spare parts, tooling, and supplies.

Strong computer skills (MS Office tools); familiarity with CMMS systems is a plus.

Experience with performance analysis and developing data-driven solutions for maintenance issues.

Ability to perform technology upgrades and help implement strategic projects to improve reliability.

Experience in writing detailed job plans for maintenance tasks.

Strong understanding of Preventive and Autonomous Maintenance practices.

Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.

Ability to work in varied postures (sitting, standing, leaning forward, side-to-side).

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally.

General walking, standing, and bending.
-
Use of hand carts or tool carts (pushing).

Frequent lifting of individual tools or materials.
-
Minimum of a High School Diploma; an advanced degree is preferred.

Any formal training in maintenance or mechanical fields is a plus but not required.

Previous experience in mechanical repair, automotive, machine repair, or service technician roles is highly desirable.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Competitive hourly pay rate of $35.
