Description

Operator Zinc Furnace
Flexible schedule; 12 hour day shift or 12 hour night shift
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Observe all safety rules and wear appropriate PPE.  Report all safety incidents, unsafe acts and conditions
  • Operates a loader which loads and unloads all metals being processed
  • Perform routine cleaning
  • Responsible for set-up and break down of furnaces
  • Maintain a continuous visual check of process and periodically checks temperature
  • Screen, separate, and crush metal
  • Perform other reasonable and related duties as assigned
 
Equipment Used: Personal Protective Equipment, Crane, Scale, Forklift, Zinc Ingot, Crucibles, Dumpers, Crushers, Ball Mills, Hot Tops, Retorts, Vapor Can, Crucible Flat, Ribs, Funnels, Furnace, and a Tow Motor

Skills/Knowledge Required:
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work in a team environment
  • Must be able to read, write, perform basic math (addition, subtractions, multiply and divide).
  • Record keeping skills
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to use both hands at the same time while pushing, pulling, twisting bending, lifting, stooping, and walking
  • Must be able to work for long periods, while standing
  • Must have good eye/hand coordination with all physical movements well coordinated
 
 
Job Conditions & Hazards:
  • Moderate dust
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25kgs (55lbs)
  • Potential strains, pinch points, and lacerations
  • Hot Surfaces
 
Education Guidelines:
  • High diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • Must be able to read, write, perform basic math (addition, subtractions, multiply and divide).
 
Experience Guidelines:
  • Prefer at least one year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
