Description

Kelly is currently seeking a skilled Lead Carpenter to join our team in Sulphur, LA. The ideal candidate will be proficient in interpreting blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, constructing frameworks and structures, installing fixtures and finishes, and performing repairs and renovations. 

Location: Sulphur with travel to the other sites in Vinton and Lake Charles
Pay Rate: $24-26 depending on experience
Shifts: Monday - Friday, 7a-4p with overtime as required

Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting Blueprints and Plans: Study architectural drawings, blueprints, and building plans to understand project requirements and specifications.
  • Measuring and Cutting Materials: Accurately measure, cut, and shape wood, plywood, and other materials using hand tools such as saws, chisels, planes, as well as power tools like circular saws and jigsaws.
  • Constructing Frameworks and Structures: Build frameworks, walls, floors, and roofs using various carpentry techniques, including framing, truss assembly, and installation of structural components.
  • Repairing and Renovating: Assess damaged or worn-out wooden structures and fixtures and perform repairs, replacements, or renovations as needed to restore their integrity and appearance.
  • Operating Machinery and Equipment: Safely operate woodworking machinery and equipment such as table saws, planers, routers, and nail guns, following safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintaining Quality and Standards: Ensure that all work meets quality standards, building codes, and safety regulations. Pay attention to detail and craftsmanship in all aspects of carpentry work.
  • Problem-solving and Adaptability: Identify and resolve construction challenges and issues that may arise during the project. Adapt to changes in plans or specifications while maintaining productivity and quality.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and regulations at all times to prevent accidents and injuries. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience as a skilled Carpenter.
  • Strong minded with the ability to manage a team.
  • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and plans.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to operate woodworking machinery and equipment safely.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing project requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to other sites as needed.
