Description

Title: Laboratory Technician
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Pay Rate: $18.00/HR  
TEMP-TO-HIRE / 1st SHIFT

RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and identifying imperfections of inbound ink supplies and outbound products using physical/chemical analyses.
 

  • Collects samples, performing analytical tests, and recording values.
  • Manages raw materials, including assignment of lot numbers, re-qualification, evaluation of shelf life, and disposal.
  • Manages retain inventory and disposing of inks according to established guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots out-of-specification inks in-process or returned.
  • After successful testing, approves ink batches or accepting raw materials into inventory.
  • Uses Process Pro to record inks QC specifications per batch.
  • Uses Excel to record raw material s QC specifications per lot.
  • Receive raw materials into PPRO in conjunction with purchasing agent.
  • Performs lab equipment maintenance and calibrations.
  • Maintains lab supplies inventory.
  • Makes small ink batches.
  • Attends all required meetings and, if necessary, training.
  • Maintains adherence to SOP's at all times.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Employee must have a high school degree or equivalent
  • Employee must be able to operate lab equipment properly and safely, including, but not limited to:
    • Surface tensiometer
    • Microscope
    • Scales / Analytical balances
    • Viscometers
    • Spectrophotometers
    • Conductivity meters
    • Energy curable light sources (UV, LED, E-beam, FTIR)
    • Refractive Index
    • Colorimeters
  • Some knowledge of MS Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Employee must have basic math skills and can use conversion formulas
  • Employee must be able to do some degree of troubleshooting problems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and operate scientific lab equipment.
  • Must be able to move around the lab and manufacturing floor, negotiating stairs, ramps and uneven floor surfaces with exposure to a typical shop environment, i.e. extreme heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes, and other elements.
  • Must also be able to work in typical office conditions and sit to work at a computer.
  • Must be able to reach up and across the body and manipulate equipment.
  • Must wear required PPE, including respirator training and certification specifically raw materials.
  • This position requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, stooping, pushing and pulling all day.
  • Specifically, the individuals must be able to: Occasionally move items up 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Adhere to lab safety requirements
