Temporary Finance Consultant – Job Description Position Overview

We are seeking a Temporary Finance Consultant to support daily accounting operations, monthly closing activities, tax reporting, and finance administration. This role will help ensure the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes while supporting internal teams and coordinating with external partners and headquarters.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple recurring finance tasks while maintaining strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Accounting & Finance Operations
  • Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, including invoicing, overdue monitoring, dispute resolution, and customer communication.

  • Perform bank reconciliations, cash application, and daily cash monitoring.

  • Process supplier invoices, match invoices with purchase orders, and resolve discrepancies.

  • Support monthly closing procedures, ensuring timely and accurate completion within a group reporting structure.

  • Prepare and manage sales tax reporting, registrations, and multi-state compliance.

  • Reconcile credit card transactions and oversee expense reporting processes.

  • Support tax management activities and coordinate with external accounting and tax advisors.

  • Monitor cash flow and profitability, preparing reports and explaining variances.

  • Maintain customer and supplier master data within the ERP system.

Administrative & Cross-Functional Support
  • Communicate professionally with sales teams regarding invoice or account issues.

  • Respond to customer phone calls and emails regarding administrative or billing questions.

  • Coordinate with international headquarters and external stakeholders as needed.

  • Manage and prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly finance routines.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, filing systems, and compliance records.

Required Technical Skills
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Monitor ERP strongly preferred)

  • Familiarity with sales tax automation platforms such as Avalara or similar tools

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, data exports, and reconciliations

  • Experience using banking portals for ACH processing, check handling, and payments

  • Familiarity with HR/Payroll systems such as Rippling is beneficial

Professional Qualifications
  • Proven experience in accounting, finance operations, or financial administration

  • Experience supporting monthly financial close processes

  • Knowledge of U.S. sales tax compliance and reporting

  • Experience working with external accounting firms or tax advisors

Personal Competencies
  • High level of independence and ownership of tasks

  • Strong attention to detail and structured working style

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple recurring tasks

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, particularly for tax and reconciliation issues

  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
