Description

Electronics Technician Department: Engineering / Production
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Location: Tucson, AZ 85745
Hours: 8am to 4pm Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Electronics Technician to support the assembly, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic systems and subassemblies. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electronics theory and practical laboratory skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment. This role supports both production and engineering development activities. Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field (required)
  • 2+ years of hands-on electronics experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Proficiency with laboratory test equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, power supplies, signal generators)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assemble, wire, and test electronic circuit boards and subassemblies
  • Perform calibration and functional testing of electronic products
  • Troubleshoot and repair analog and digital circuits to the component level
  • Document test results and maintain accurate production records
  • Support engineering with prototype builds and design verification testing
  • Perform failure analysis and assist with root cause investigations
  • Maintain and organize lab and test equipment
  • Assist with continuous improvement and quality initiatives
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics
  • Basic circuit theory (Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Laws)
  • PCB assembly and soldering (through-hole and SMT)
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and frequency counters
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and assembly instructions
Preferred Qualifications
  • IPC solder certification (IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001)
  • Experience in regulated or industrial manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with calibration procedures and data recording
  • Basic understanding of microcontrollers and serial communications (RS-232/RS-485, I²C, SPI)

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity for precision soldering and small component handling
