Cost Control Analyst

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Rate: $40-45/hour

Contract Type: Temporary to Hire

 

Our client, a leading maintenance, construction, and equipment installation company in Houston, TX, is seeking a Cost Control Analyst to support a major project and ongoing company growth. This role is critical in ensuring accurate project cost tracking, budget management, and informed decision-making for project success. Job Duties:

  • Accurately process and reconcile employee timesheets to ensure correct project cost allocation.
  • Develop, review, and manage detailed project forecasts and budgets utilizing Excel, QuickBooks, and Procore.
  • Track and report materials costs for all assigned projects.
  • Analyze productivity versus labor costs to identify and recommend process improvements.
  • Distinguish between incurred and accrued costs and apply appropriate accounting terminology.
  • Align timesheets with project forecasts and budgets, ensuring consistency in invoicing and project documentation.
  • Monitor project profit margins, providing timely feedback and actionable recommendations to project managers.
  • Participate in project meetings to address financial matters and provide quick, thoughtful responses to project demands.

 

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of relevant cost control, accounting, or project support experience.
  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel, with hands-on experience in QuickBooks and Procore.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile, analyze, and explain project forecasts and budgets.
  • Working knowledge of processing timesheets, tracking materials costs, and managing project-level invoicing.
  • Familiarity with accounting concepts, including incurred versus accrued costs and soft accounting terminology.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to provide clear feedback and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new processes and adapt in a fast-paced, project-focused environment.
