Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus Athletics is seeking one (1) Associate Tennis Pro to hold lessons for students interested in improving their tennis skills. Pay will be as follows:
Individual Lessons - $45/hour
Group Lessons - $55/hour
Job Summary
The Kamehameha Associate Teaching Tennis Professional is a part-time position who will report to the Director of Tennis and be responsible for creating an environment that makes learning tennis enjoyable, educational, challenging, and promotes a sense of accomplishment and a spirit of excellence through supplemental tennis training.
Essential Responsibilities
Supplemental Training
For Private Tennis Lessons:
Improve technical skills, such as stroke production.
Develop tactical skills, including understanding winning strategies.
Guide through matchplay scenarios with constructive feedback.
Enhance mental toughness to thrive under pressure.
For Group Tennis Lessons:
Facilitate skill improvement in a group setting.
Ensure engagement and progress for all students.
Student Support and Progress
Identify individual instructional needs.
Tailor progression-based instruction for each student.
Observe and support students in competitive settings.
Fulfill additional duties to aid student development.
Facility and Program Management
Assist with facility maintenance and tennis program management.
Enforce facility usage rules and equipment protocols.
Prioritize court scheduling for ILH teams and Kamehameha students.
Coordinate private lesson schedules around ILH programming.
Organize JTT Practices in designated time slots.
Collaborate on equipment and repair needs assessment.
Minimum Qualifications
Prior experience in developmental level coaching and/or high-performance coaching.
Knowledge and understanding of tennis fundamentals (e.g., technical, physical, mental, and tactical aspects of tennis).
Ability to listen and extract a student's needs as well as document a clear and sensible progression to assisting a student to reaching a set goal.
Ability to improve skill-competence, nurture self-confidence, and cultivate self-belief within each student through positive reinforcement.
Ability to promote cooperation and commitment between player, parent(s), and coach.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in high-level competitive tennis play.
