Job SummaryResponsible to supervise security officers during assigned watch. Provides security to KS campus, facilities and property, students, and staff. Patrols grounds and buildings, investigates or reports on unusual incidents, provides traffic control support. May be scheduled to work weekends and nights.
Essential Responsibilities- Supervises security officers during assigned watch and assists in the performance of officer's duties as needed. Prepares officers' daily assignments/ monthly work schedules and special assignments. Responsible to ensure a full complement of officers on assigned watch as required.
- Responds to incident calls and provides supervison to officers in their repective tasks, inspection of security gates to ensure personnel and systems are functioning properly and completes all required incident and supervisory reports. Patrols campus and inspects buildings and facilities during assigned watch.
- Investigates reported incidents and completes report. Reviews field reports of officer investigated incidents, checks all officer sector logs, gatehouse logs, etc. during assigned watch.
- Obtains manpower support and directs parking and traffic control for special events both on and off campus. Maintains and updates computer incident report file, room reminder file, etc.
- Conducts in-service and roll call training of security officers to include emergency incidents, i.e. evacuations, school shootings, hazardous materials, etc., for assigned watches.
- Evaluates the performance of individual officers assigned to a watch, i.e. knowledge of job, etc.
- Supervises the issuance and recovery of all security equipment assigned to a watch.
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Vocational training in emergency management or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in physical security or directly related field.
- Valid Driver's License
- Certification in CPR with defibrillator and First Aid.
- Successful completion of 8-hour Basic Guard Training and application for State of Hawaii, DCCA, Guard Employee Registration within 60 days of employment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Basic computation skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include rotating shifts.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of personal computers to include Word, Excel, Access and Power Point programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of lead or supervising experience.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
- Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
