Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Philanthropy oversees the implementation and evaluation of all donor development programs for individuals, organizations, alumni, faculty, students, planned gifts, etc. Manages all fundraising campaigns, appeals, requests and messages in a way that reflects the Foundation's mission and constituent groups. Responsible for the creation and ongoing implementation of a comprehensive stewardship plan for all existing and prospective donors. Develops and cultivates relationships with donors for annual donors to perpetuate their giving through major and planned gifts. Acts as a personal manager and liaison for an assigned portfolio of donors and prospective donors.

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Works with Executive Director and Director of Philanthropy to create strategies to introduce major and planned giving donors to the Foundation, including identifying, qualifying, cultivating and soliciting major and planned gift prospects.
  • Proactively and strategically manage a portfolio of prospects including their attorneys, accountants, trust officers, financial planners and insurance providers; maintaining a strict personal visit and solicitation goal to generate a high level of activity and prospect contact; recording contact reports including referencing next steps.
  • Plan and organize appropriate engagement strategies, cultivation and stewardship opportunities for prospects and donors, which may include hosting or coordinating periodic seminars designed to provide information about planned gifts.
  • Oversees the goal setting, implementation and evaluation of all donor development programs for individuals, organizations, alumni, faculty, students, planned gifts, etc.
  • Manages all fundraising campaigns, appeals, requests and messages in a way that reflects the Foundation's mission and constituent groups.
  • Responsible for creating and implementing a tracking system for all donors, prospective donors, and program entities.
  • Works in partnership with Scholarship Services Administrator to ensure that scholarship fund criteria are developed with both the donors' wishes and Foundation objectives in mind.
  • Manages and provides support to program and project initiatives as assigned.

Donor Development

  • Assures responsive and courteous customer service of constituents by developing and implementing customer service standards for all staff. Ensures timely responses and communications with donors, scholarship recipients, and families.
  • Works in partnership with campus Alumni Coordinators to introduce Foundation giving opportunities to KS alumni.
  • Creates and promotes various alumni giving programs in conjunction with the KS Alumni offices. Serves as a Foundation representative, in addition to the Director of Alumni Relations at KS alumni activities.
  • Coordinates development and distribution of newsletters, annual report, I Mua slots, ads, videos, etc. with KSPF Communications Program Manager.

Staff Management

  • Directs the efforts of the department to include effectively managing performance, facilitating work efforts and resources, and providing leadership, guidance, training, and coaching.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the requirements listed.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a manager or supervisor.
  • Highly organized and computer literate.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of student and alumni development.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully lead and work as part of a team.
  • Relationship management competencies required:
    • Excellent listening skills – attentive and active listening, patience to hear people out, ability to accurately restate the opinions of others even when in disagreement, knows when to ask questions and able to form appropriate inquiries.
    • Genuine compassion – concerned about personal and professional lives, demonstrate real empathy with the joys and pains of others.
    • Understanding – possess understanding of what people value and how to inspire them. Ability to pick up the sense of the individual or group in terms of position, intention and need.
    • Interpersonal savvy – relates well to people of diverse backgrounds, ability to build appropriate rapport and constructive and effective relationships, use of diplomacy and tact.
    • Highly approachable – easy to approach and talk to, spends extra effort to put others at ease, warm, pleasant and gracious, sensitive to and patient with the interpersonal anxieties of others.
  • Ability to travel to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required to meet goals and objectives.
  • Valid Driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Kamehameha Schools and Ke Ali'i Pauahi Foundation and their missions.
  • Experience working in a non-profit development office.
  • Experience using Raiser's Edge software.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.
  • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.

Working Conditions

  • This position involves traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands, national and international locations.
  • Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.

115,600.00 - 165,000.00 Annual
