Following the field review and prior to construction, the geotechnical personnel will proactively work with MVP engineering and construction staff to design landslide mitigation measures for each area identified area in the field. There may be a break between pre-construction and construction-phase work when engineering and geological services will not be required.

During construction, a geotechnical engineer or engineering geologist will be assigned to a specific pipeline construction spread (geographic area) along the route. Construction spreads range in length from 22 to 39 miles. Engineers/geologists will observe construction operations with respect to subsurface conditions, document and evaluate the implementation of all landslide mitigation measures identified prior to construction, recommend additional measures with respect to long-term slope stability, and report daily activities to MVP construction and engineering as deemed necessary and appropriate by MVP.
