Description

1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES

1.1. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of an assigned lab, including managing the operational budget and assisting with the development and direction of strategic plans and growth initiatives.

 

2. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1. Listed examples are illustrative and representative of the tasks required of this position and are not intended to be complete or exclusive.

2.2. Manage and direct personnel

2.3. Manage budgeted costs and exceed monthly production/revenue and profit goals

2.4. Assess, monitor, report, and improve on lab productivity

2.5. Identify and develop processes to enhance and maximize efficiencies and margin/expense

2.6. Coordinate with other working groups to effectively reach and exceed targeted goals

2.7. Mentor and develop staff by setting appropriate goals and objectives

2.8. Maintain facility assets in accordance with Intertek Safety, Health, Quality and Compliance Policies

2.9. Attend technical trade or association meetings

2.10. Serve as a technical resource to employees and clients

2.11. Make recommendations on improvements to operational processes to maximum efficiencies

2.12. Interact with clients, accreditors and/or Authority Having Jurisdiction to resolve issues

2.13. Provide support to engineering and sales

2.14. Make business recommendations on capital expenditures and other initiatives

2.15. Promote new business opportunities

2.16. Perform other work as required such as and not limited to project scheduling and back log maintenance, quoting projects to sales, lab upkeep.

2.17. Perform billable projects

2.18. Other duties related to the above, as assigned

2.19. Carrying out all responsibilities in a supportive manner with total adherence to: The Company's Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures, Quality Management System, Compliance and Ethics Policies, Vision, Mission and Strategy, and exercises good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy.



Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

4.1. Degree or Diploma in engineering

4.2. Minimum of three years technical management experience in an engineering environment, preferably within a testing or product development laboratory

4.3. Minimum of three years general management experience, including supervision of staff

4.4. Prior experience managing a budget
