The Clinical Specialist is a corporate role assigned to supplement a community Director of Health and Wellness (DHW) or assume the role if the position is vacant. The position is responsible for the overall operation of a Community's Resident Care Department and for meeting or exceeding its clinical, regulatory, and financial expectations. This position may be assigned to assist with the recruiting and training of Directors of Health and Wellness. The Clinical Specialist may be assigned to work on corporate projects periodically and provide Regional oversight of Resident Care Departments.
Responsibilities:
- Monitors the implementation of current policies and procedures, which reflect adherence to corporate and external regulatory guidelines. Reviews new regulatory directives and implements changes as needed.
- Evaluates and improves compliance with resident rights policies and works to resolve resident grievances.
- Conducts compliance surveys at communities. Assists in coordinating action plans to minimize liability and risks as a result of compliance surveys.
- Participates in State and Federal surveys and compliance investigations.
- Supports and reviews plan of correction progress.
- Reviews and develops performance indicators and survey data to identify trends.
- Provides in-service training and orientation to community staff regarding survey process, risk management, corporate compliance, performance improvement, etc.
- Assists Regional Director with auditing level of care assessments for accuracy and compliance.
- Participates in the interview and selection process for community DHWs.
- Assists community to maintain knowledge of state regulations and monitors proposed changes to regulations.
- Always champions the company culture.
- Reviews and facilitates partnership with outside vendors as needed.
- Assists with education and is responsible for clinical expertise of the DHW role.
- Must be computer literate, excellent working knowledge of all pertinent software
- Is responsible for timely information reporting
- Must stay in compliance with all state, federal, and government agencies
- Demonstrates respect and compassion in every interaction
- Conducts oneself with the highest degree of honesty and integrity in every interaction
- Demonstrates a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, families, and visitors
- May be requested to serve as temporary Interim Director of Health and Wellness
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provides supervision, support and guidance to community administrators and Director of Health and Wellness staff and others as assigned to assure delivery of consistently high-quality care to residents. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications:
- Multistate Compact Licensure as a Registered Nurse Required
- Maintains knowledge of regulatory compliance in all states of responsibility.
- Current experience in assisted living required.
- Five (5) to Ten (10) years' nursing experience
- Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing
- Three (3) to Five (5) year nursing management experience
- Recent/current experience as Director of Wellness, Director of Clinical or Director of Nursing in Assisted Living required.
