Position Overview


The Sr. Manager, Industrial Maintenance & Automation is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of all facility systems across logistics, manufacturing, and automation environments. This includes oversight of material handling equipment (MHE), building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, racking, janitorial), packaging machinery, robotics, and automation solutions.


This role leads maintenance initiatives across sites by building and training skilled teams, implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards, and driving continuous improvement. The Sr. Manager partners closely with site Maintenance Managers, external vendors, and operations leaders to deliver reliable facility performance and support business growth.


Work Location: This role is remote with frequent travel to various sites. At this time we are open to hiring a candidate within EST, CST or MT. 


Work Schedule: First Shift On-Site, Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time. With the ability to work before and after standard hours as the business needs.


Work Travel: 60%-80% domestic travel and travel between sites as needed ongoing basis. 


Compensation: Attractive annual salary of $120,000 - $140,000 plus a performance-based bonus, with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and more.


Key Responsibilities


Operational Support



  • Hire, train, and develop site Maintenance Managers and technicians.

  • Provide backup support at sites during vacancies or seasonal peaks.

  • Audit and review site maintenance programs and procedures.

  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment (including FATs).


New Facility & Equipment Implementation



  • Lead maintenance set-up for new distribution or manufacturing centers.

  • Implement CMMS programs and establish spare parts inventory.

  • Develop standard toolboxes, SOPs, and documentation.

  • Manage vendor relationships, procurement, and budget tracking.

  • Train operators and technicians on new equipment.


Maintenance & Facility Management



  • Oversee all facility maintenance including MHE, automation systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, racking, janitorial, and building systems.

  • Manage network maintenance projects, preventive programs, and repairs.

  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance and optimal performance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and system issues.

  • Coordinate planned outages, capital projects, and repairs with internal teams and contractors.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).


Continuous Improvement & Compliance



  • Enhance preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives.

  • Track and analyze maintenance data to reduce downtime and improve asset performance.

  • Support innovation projects such as predictive maintenance tools.

  • Maintain accurate service records, inventory, and documentation.

  • Promote a strong safety culture by identifying risks and correcting unsafe conditions.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance wrench turning experience in a 3PL or fast-paced production environment.
    • Expertise in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, automation, and robotic systems.
    • Experience with packaging machinery (vertical/horizontal baggers, automated cartoners, palletizers, sorters, de-palletizers, stackers, closers).
    • Familiarity with major automation brands such as Fanuc, Kawasaki, MIR.
  • 2+ years of facilities maintenance experience (warehouse equipment, building systems, and grounds).
  • Strong troubleshooting background across electrical systems (24VDC up to 480VAC 3-phase).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and equipment drawings.
  • Proficiency with forklifts, aerial lifts, pallet jacks, and other mechanical lifting devices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and use tools for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food industry production operations.
  • Prior leadership in managing multi-site maintenance programs.
  • Experience implementing CMMS programs and predictive maintenance tools.
  • Strong vendor management skills (installation, maintenance contracts, procurement).
  • Demonstrated success in developing maintenance SOPs and training programs.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with proven ability to reduce downtime and improve asset reliability.
