Description

The Imports Systems and Data Analyst will provide strong operations templates, business modeling, trade analysis and management tools for optimal performance in key Import Department functions, decision support, and trade intelligence. The key focus support areas include Oracle container tracking, Customs transactions, trade compliance and corporate social responsibility. This key position will collaborate with Import Operations, Trade Compliance, International Logistics, DC Transportation, Finance, service and software providers. This position is not strictly technical, but deeply analytical and calls for a self-starter with genuine investigative talents to make analytical inquiries and help drive continuous improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative analysis and development of recommendations to optimize business processes and performance. 
  • Run statistical analysis, data modeling to identify key issues and recommend possible solution, this will include performing root cause analysis of business problems, identifying and recommending solution alternatives, development of reports to track key metrics and results.
  • Develop, generate and publish Imports analytics and dashboards
  • Design databases and templates to track, maintain, and analyze large data sets that change regularly.
  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business requirements, and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Document functional business requirement and interpret into system designs.
  • Improve analytics through reporting and software enhancements.
  • Identify reporting capacities and constraints.
  • Ask critical questions about Imports operations and utilize experience as well as judgment while working with data storehouse owners to identify the required data sources and suggest alternate solutions.
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Work closely with management to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Other special projects as assigned.
  • Regular atttendance is an essential funtion of the job.

Requirements

Qualifications – Education and Experience
 
  • BS in Industrial Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Applied Math or Computer Science strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years in customs brokerage, freight forwarding or supply chain
  • Intermediate user or better in Microsoft Applications  including: Excel Power point, Word, Access, Visual Basic and Visio.
  • Proficient in Oracle and Oracle Discover reporting.
  • Experience analyzing large data sets;  turning data into info and info into insight.
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
  • Sense of urgency, collaborative team style, and ability to quickly adapt to changes in priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
