Description
The Business Analyst is a challenging role that partners with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand, analyze, distill, and communicate business reporting and analytical needs so that technical delivery teams can develop and deploy effective solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ask critical business questions by applying analytical methodologies in pursuit of solutions using data driven (fact based) decision making.
- Monitor and analyze operational data to identify trends, issues and opportunities, and provide feedback to key departments in service of analytical based recommendations.
- Leverage retail, online, and catalog sales data to provide insight into our transaction patterns, product trends, marketing performance, supply chain, and inventory.
- Partnering with key business users and departments to understand business needs, and gather requirements while also balancing technical feasibility.
- Provide Data analysis and reporting related to increasing optimization and performance improvement.
- Ability to gather, document and translate business requirements into technical specifications that can be understood by in-house Development and Reporting teams.
- Participate in workflow analysis in support of requirements identification.
- Work with analytics reporting technology, such as data-cubes and other data mining techniques.
Scope
- Sales Scope – Sales vs. Gross Profit Analysis, Product Returns Analysis
- Marketing Scope – All Advertising Spend vs Sales Transactions, Event/Coupon Offer Performance Analysis
- Inventory Scope – Global Sourcing – Supply Chain – Inventory Planning – Purchasing
- Decision Making – To support Enterprise Business, Operation, and Analytic Functional Area
The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,800– $166,100 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer comprehensive and competitive benefits to Associates (and their families) such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability. Eligible Associates are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Associates will accrue paid time off up to 236 hours per year (inclusive of PTO, floating holidays, and paid holidays). Paid sick time up to 80 hours per year unless otherwise required by law.
Requirements
Job Qualifications – Education and Experience
- 4-year degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Computer Information Systems or related field.
- 3+ years of progressive responsibility within business analytics or finance teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel: use of data pivots, data visualization to show trends, create Dashboards and extensive knowledge of formulas and functions
- Strong Business Requirements gathering and Analysis Skills
- Strong AdHoc Query Skills
- Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL - required for query, profiling and testing
- Database exposure: SQL Server, Oracle or similar RDBMS
- Exposure to retail, catalog and ecommerce businesses preferred
- Due to the volume of data the team manages, learns and uses, it is essential that this candidate have strong memory recall and is detail orientated when capturing requirements. In addition, the candidate will need to be self-motivated, provide excellent customer service and have a high sense of urgency when responding to client inquiries.
