Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Subject Matter Expert - Taxation in Chennai.


The Subject Matter Expert – Taxation will be responsible for end-to-end GST and TDS compliance, reconciliations, audit support, and process improvements. The role requires strong hands-on taxation knowledge, analytical capability and the ability to independently manage high-volume tax compliance while collaborating with Finance and Sites.

What a typical day looks like:


GST

Handling end-to-end GST compliance, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and other applicable statutory returns.

 

  • Ascertain GST liability, Input Tax Credit (ITC), Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) and ensure timely tax payment and return filing.
  • Perform GSTR-1 vs Books, GSTR-3B vs Books and GSTR-2B vs ITC reconciliations and drive closure of exceptions.
  • Track vendor-related ITC mismatches/non-reflection in GSTR-2B and coordinate with AP, Procurement and other stakeholders for timely resolution.
  • Review ITC eligibility at transaction level, including blocked/ineligible credits, reversals, re-availment and other applicable ITC adjustments.
  • Prepare annual GST reconciliation and GSTR-9/9C requirements, including reconciliation of turnover, tax liability and ITC with financial books.
  • Validate HSN/SAC, GST rates, Place of Supply, GSTIN, tax codes and other GST master data impacting tax determination.
  • Support GST audits, assessments, departmental notices and litigation, including preparation of reconciliations, supporting documents and responses.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on business processes and compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvements and strengthening of GST controls.

 

TDS

  • Handling end-to-end TDS compliance, including tax deduction, deposit and quarterly TDS return filing.
  • Review TDS applicability, sections, rates and thresholds for domestic transactions.
  • Perform TDS reconciliation between books, returns and tax payments and address compliance exceptions/defaults.
  • Support withholding-tax analysis for cross-border payments, including review of DTAA applicability and supporting tax documentation.
  • Provide TDS-related support for statutory audit, tax audit and other regulatory requirements.

 

 

Cross-Functional & Process Responsibilities

 

  • Work closely with AP, AR, Treasury, Logistics and other business teams for timely and accurate tax compliance.
  • Support Statutory Audit, Tax Audit, Cost Audit and Internal Audit with required reconciliations and Tax schedules.
  • Maintain adequate compliance trackers, documentation and audit trails.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, analytics and exception-based compliance monitoring.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:


  • B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter / CMA Inter or equivalent with relevant taxation experience.,professional qualification would be an advantage.
  • 8–10 years of hands-on experience in taxation, with strong exposure to GST and working knowledge of TDS.
  • Experience in high-volume transactions, multiple GST registrations, reconciliations and tax audits/assessments preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and ERP systems; exposure to tax automation/analytics tools would be an advantage
  • Good written & oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Should be flexible to work in shifts and support Month end per business needs.
  • Analytical and Problem-solving skills.
