Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Sr. Director of Mechanical Engineering located in Guadalajara, North Campus.

This role leads a team of Sr. Mechanical Engineers focused on the design, validation and implementation of innovative and cost-effective product solutions across diverse customer segments—from early concept and architecture to mass production. 

The position holds global leadership responsibility, guiding engineering activities across multiple international sites and ensuring alignment of processes, standards, and execution worldwide. The scope includes focused mechanical assembly—automation, mechanical assembly, integration, cabling, and driving innovation in standards and best practices to enhance global operations.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Lead and develop a team of senior Mechanical Engineering managers responsible for complex design activities aligned with Flex's business strategy.
  • Provide technical and operational leadership to engineering groups across global locations, ensuring consistent deployment of design methodologies, tools, and standards.
  • Ensure projects meet schedule, cost, and quality targets through structured reviews and strong governance
  • Oversee life‑cycle engineering activities and customer support processes across local and global sites.
  • Drive advanced capabilities in mechanical assembly, automation, integration, cabling, and continuous innovation of engineering standards.
  • Partner closely with Operations to integrate Design for Manufacturability principles and ensure robust ramp‑to‑production execution across the worldwide network.
  • Provide strategic direction, define functional goals, and align priorities with site and corporate objectives.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, and performance indicators in line with corporate guidelines.
  • Drive development and continuous improvement of mechanical technology solutions across diverse product categories and global production environments.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead workforce planning, talent development, and retention strategies for both local teams and globally distributed engineering groups.
  • Collaborate with global site leaders to harmonize engineering practices and ensure readiness for new product introductions and strategic programs. The experience we're looking to add to our team:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; MBA preferred.
  • Significant experience in leadership roles within metal-mechanical or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading global engineering teams and collaborating across multiple international sites.
  • Strong background in NPI and product development processes.
  • Advanced English level.
  • Experience with P&L ownership or functional financial responsibility.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical fabrication processes (punching, bending, stamping, welding, insertion, painting, and mechanical assembly).
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities, including executive audiences.
  • Flexibility to travel and engage effectively across multiple time zones in support of a global engineering organization.
