The Injection Molding Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting injection molding machines to produce high-quality plastic parts. This role focuses on mold changes, process parameter adjustments (temperature, pressure, speed), quality inspections, and ensuring safety and efficiency. Technicians respond to machine alarms, handle materials, perform minor maintenance, and collaborate with engineers to meet production goals and customer specifications. The position requires technical knowledge and hands-on physical work.

Key Responsibilities

1) Molding Process

  • Strong understanding of injection molding principles and process optimization.

2) Molding Machine

  • Familiarity with injection molding machines; experience with Netstal injection molding machines preferred.

3) Material Knowledge

  • Knowledge of thermoplastics, resin drying, and raw material characteristics.

4) Setup & Operation

  • Prepare machines for production by installing molds and auxiliary equipment.
  • Set process parameters such as temperature, pressure, injection speed, and cycle times.
  • Preferred experience with molding automation: programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining robotics, End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT), sensors, PLCs, and related electrical/pneumatic systems.

5) Troubleshooting & Adjustments

  • Diagnosing and correct processing issues (e.g., part defects, cycle time problems).
  • Make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.

6) Quality Control

  • Understand molding defects and apply troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with process control and quality standards.

7) Maintenance

  • Perform preventive maintenance and clean molds.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Skills: Strong injection molding knowledge, experience, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic/hydraulic troubleshooting.
  • Experience: Proven experience in plastics injection molding process  
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Education: Vocational/technical degree related to injection molding or plastic processing / tooling
