The Manufacturing Engineer will be based in Austin, TX and will support the team at the Flex Austin site  The ME will design, deploy, launch and sustain manufacturing production lines for industrial equipment, machinery, and power equipment.  The ME will work on the production floor as needed to ensure our products are produced safely, at the highest quality, delivered on time, and while maximizing efficiency.  
 

Here is a glimpse of what you'll do:

Understand manufacturing and test equipment concepts, technologies and techniques

  • Designs manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
  • Define equipment maintenance requirements, identify root-causes of equipment failures and develop hands-on maintenance skills
  • Work with other engineering stakeholders and customers on problem solving and continuous improvement to the design of equipment and products and may develop corrective and preventive action plans
  • May be involved in development and update of PFMEA for new products
  • Write and update work instructions and other documents (e.g. specifications, procedures,…)
  • Analyzes and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Coordinates with customers to determine product specifications and design changes and responds to customer request.
  • Provides information for management decisions from a technical and technical cost perspective.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

Here is some of what you'll need (required):

  • BS in Engineering degree required
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Ability to run and explain simulations
  • Individual must be a quick learner and be effective at working in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Experience in MSWord, Excel and Web based tools such as Frontpage and HTML
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, design drawings and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
     

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:

  • Training Technicians and Operators on new products, processes and equipment.
  • Lean Green Belt Certification
  • AutoCAD or Solid works
  • Experience with consumer electronics assembly/disassembly
  • Previous experience with robotics
  • Industrial recycling exposure preferred
  • Lithium battery recycling highly preferred
