Job summary:

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add an CoPQ Quality Technician located in Columbia, SC.

Reporting to the Quality Manager the CoPQ Quality Technician is in charge of performing MRB activities, product inspection and/or audits of quality control programs. This role will perform material purge and material return to vendor. As well as ensuring raw materials, in process and finished products meet company standards. General documentations updated (Quality alerts).

What a typical day looks like:

  • Manage the material review board (MRB) process including managing the MRB meetings and managing disposition of material.
  • Drive continuous improvement through tracking MRB metrics and utilizing continuous improvement tools such as 8D and RCA to drive CoPQ reduction.
  • Support creation of Inspection Quality Control plans
  • Support First Article Inspections and PPAPs
  • Support line technical issues
  • Identify/update quality audit procedures as needed
  • Audits processes, tests and inspects products and/or develops, compiles and evaluates statistical data to define and maintain quality and reliability of products. 
  • Working from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform complex engineering testing, checkout, First Article Inspection, root cause research, internal corrective actions and supplier correction actions. 
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards, programs or reports to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.

The experience we're looking to add to our team:

  • Requires a minimum of 6 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills which may be used to conduct on-the-job training and guide other employees.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Determines quality/testing methods/ procedures on new assignments. Decisions may affect external parties. 
  • ASQ certification as CQT, CQA, CQPA or CSSGB is desired. ISO 9000, ESD, OSHAS 18000, ISO 14001 is preferred but not required.
