Description

The Division of Critical Care Medicine at Nemours Children's Hospital Delaware is seeking an innovative and highly collaborative clinician to serve as Division Chief. The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized academic leader with a substantial record of leadership, clinical and administrative accomplishments, education, scholarship and/or research productivity, and teaching experience. We are seeking candidates with prior administrative and leadership experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to effectively inspire, manage, mentor, and develop faculty and staff. Candidates should have an M.D., D.O., or MD-PhD degree and be board-certified by the American Board of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.

Requirements:

  • 8 years of experience.
  • Board-certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
  • Appropriate for Associate Professor of Pediatrics or a higher academic rank.
  • Strong clinical research or academic quality improvement background preferred.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • Oversee clinical operations for 24 bed PICU
  • Responsible for providing strategic direction for the growth and development of the division, taking full advantage of the stature and academic resources of Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia.
  • Lead, support, and mentor 12 physician faculty, 3 advanced practice nurses, and 9 critical care fellows
  • Report to the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Provide leadership, vision, and management in accomplishing the mission and goals of the division and Department of Pediatrics in education, research, patient care, and service.
  • Collaborative opportunities with basic and clinical scientists offer significant potential for the development of the research arm of the division.
  • Work closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments in an effort to maintain a teamwork approach to family-centered care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with leadership to create, seek, and execute strategic initiatives to further Nemour's mission.
  • Identify and obtain resources to optimize clinical services and achieve goals for patient access, patient volume, physician availability and training, productivity, and quality improvement.
  • Work with the medical directory to optimize patient safety and quality of care.
  • Foster an environment that enhances the professional development of division members with the goal of achieving a highly motivated and skillful physician and allied professional group.
  • Recruit and retain well-trained, diverse, and qualified professional staff to the division within the clinical needs and compensation policies of Nemours.
  • Exemplify the Nemours Standards of Behavior and ensure all division members are practicing those same standards through education and motivation.
  • Support scholarly activities which include the education of pediatric residents, active research, and support of the Nemours research strategy.
  • Serve as the ‘face' of critical care medicine and build external relationships,
  • Expand the sphere of influence and advocate for improvements and change within the division
  • Seek external support and philanthropy.
  • Responsible for fiscal stewardship and operational management in partnership with department administration.
  • Focus on patient satisfaction and maintaining a family-centric environment and culture to ensure service and operational excellence that maximize patient satisfaction, outcomes, and impact within and beyond Nemours.
  • Attend Pediatric departmental meetings and general medical staff meetings as required by the hospital and departmental bylaws. Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date medical records and summaries as required by the hospital and department bylaws.
  • Participate in quality improvement, service improvement, and leadership activities, including patient satisfaction and safety initiatives, risk management, and peer review activities.
  • Maintenance of board certification as required by employers.
