The Senior Project Engineer reports to the Project Engineering Manager.  The position provides project management and technical support for the operation and construction of Enterprise's plants and pipelines in the Eastern Gulf Coast region.  The Senior Project Engineer, under the direction of the Manager and more senior engineers, ensures that facility upgrades and changes are designed and constructed in accordance with the Company's Engineering Guidelines and Specifications, Industry Codes & Standards, and Regulatory Agency requirements while also meeting functionality and performance requirements.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
  • Perform plant simulations to establish baselines, simulate modifications and estimate performance enhancements to existing plant facilities.
  • Perform and check design calculations and equipment sizing.
  • Perform Plant Optimization Studies (Surveillance) and monitor key performance indicators to determine if existing assets are performing to expectations.  When opportunities for improvement at identified the Process Engineer will take the lead in their design and implementation to increase efficiency and production while reducing costs.
  • Prepare project design scopes in support of capital projects, commercial development, and plant optimization.
  • Coordinates and manages capital projects in accordance with established policies and procedures. 
  • Supervises the activities of subordinates including outside consultants. 
  • Prepares requests for proposal for outside consultants; prepare bid packages, reviews bids, conducts consultant selection process, and makes recommendation for award of contract. 
  • Coordinates project activities; assigns tasks and provides guidance to personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the project. 
  • Oversees assigned projects to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. 
  • Monitors project costs and schedule to ensure that the project does not exceed the approved budget and stays within prescribed timeline. 
  • Reviews the work of consultant(s) to ensure that Enterprise Products' standards and contractual requirements are being met. 
  • Ensure compliance with all steps of OSHA 1910.119 / Process Safety Management and DOT regulations.


Requirements

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.  Chemical Engineering degree is preferred.
  • 10 years experience in a chemical plant environment with continuous process and pipeline is required. 
  • Experience with distillation, light hydrocarbons, API standards, OSHA 1910.119 (PSM), DOT regulations, pipeline maintenance and construction, and underground storage is preferred.
  • Experience with some or all of the following: process plant construction and modifications, pipeline routing and construction, construction planning, regulatory approval processes, and construction management is required.  
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
  • Experience with cost tracking, scheduling, and project management in a chemical plant and pipeline environment is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to either work alone or as part of a team, are essential.  
  • The ability to sit for extensive periods of time while working with computers, reading, and communicating via telephone.
  • The ability to be exposed to on-going operations and construction under varying environmental conditions, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to travel domestically, up to 25% of the time.
