Description

ENSCO Rail Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Technical support Engineer to join their team located in Belmont, Western Australia in support of the ENSCO Rail high-speed, real-time track inspection systems supplied to the international railway market. This position requires a self-motivated, multi-talented person to work both in the office and in the field. The position will suit someone with a background in a service and support role for instrumentation and measurement systems who is interested in, or already works in the rail industry. Suitably motivated graduate engineers would also be considered for this position.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct work between various domestic and international customer sites (up to 50% of the time) and the ENSCO Rail Australia office in Belmont, Perth
  • Provide field service and support including equipment installation, calibration, troubleshooting, configuration, maintenance, and repair of specialised measurement equipment on railway vehicles.
  • Carry out the assembly, test, debug, and repair of electronic hardware, cables, component chassis wiring, sensor assemblies, and associated computer equipment.
  • Install and configure computer hardware and software.
  • Provide routine analysis of measurement data and generate customer reports.
  • Manage phone and email technical support inquiries (Helpdesk) from ENSCO's office in Perth..


Qualifications

  • Experience with optical and inertial sensors
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and MS SQL
  • Experience with ETL and data warehouse concepts
  • Previous rail experience preferable

Requirements

Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant experience in a service/support role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The successful candidate will be able to perform the following:
  • Effectively communicate with customers by telephone, email, and in person
  • Diagnose and resolve system problems, following up as needed to a satisfactory resolution
  • Work independently and safely in a rail environment at customer sites
  • Understand electrical and mechanical drawings and procedures
  • Carry out the installation of electro-mechanical equipment using basic hand/power tools
  • Install, configure and test ENSCO and 3rd party software on Windows and Linux platforms
  • Configure computer systems, software, and networks.
  • Effectively use electrical test equipment (e.g. multi-meters, oscilloscopes) for testing and troubleshooting equipment to component level
  • Able to balance deliveries and support for multiple customers with minimal supervision.
  • Meet the occupational medical requirements for a safety-critical rail worker.
  • Work 12-hour shifts as necessary when on field assignments.
The selected candidate may be required to submit to fingerprinting, drug screening, and additional background investigations in connection with this position.
