Job Summary:
Provides pre-hospital Advanced Life Support Care as prescribed by Departmental and Hospital policies and procedures as well as the New Jersey State Department of Health MICU regulations.

Job Essentials:

  • Performs a patient assessment consistent with the patient complaint.
  • Formulates the patient complaint and physical finding into a verbal report and communicates this information to base station physician.
  • Initiates patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent and continuous manner.
  • Sets priorities in patient care based on urgency of patient's problems and available resources of time, personnel, equipment and supplies.
  • Provides pre-hospital emergency medical care to patient as prescribed by Departmental and Medical Center policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of paramedic care through continued assessment of patient illness/injury.
  • Provides effective care to patients in all age groups.
  • Demonstrates competency in all paramedic psychomotor skills as authorized Departmental policies/procedures and N.J.State Departmental of Health MIC regulations.
  • Documents in an accurate and timely manner all pre-hospital patient activity.
  • Assures that patient rights as identified by the institution are met.
  • Assures that the patient environment is correctly maintained and administers paramedic care in accordance with safety regulation.
  • Drives the MICU vehicle safely at all times.
  • Performs the preventative maintenance for MICU equipment as prescribed by departmental policies.
  • Responds appropriately in emergency situations following approved patient care policies.
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge base, skill level and decision making as necessary and assertively seeks guidance from EMS Director and Assistant Director in areas of question.
  • Is responsible and accountable for own professional practice.
  • Seeks validation of knowledge base, skill level and decision making as necessary and assertively seeks guidance in areas of question.
  • Participates in orientation process of new employees and paramedic students. Participate in staff development activities on unit.
  • Sets goals for self and participates in continuing education programs to maintain, update and further develop one's practice. Participates in departmental committees and development of unit goals.
  • Maintains all required licenses, certification and Departmental certification as indicated in the Departmental policies and N.J. State Department of Health MICU regulation.
  • Participates in peer review, unit and Departmental Quality Assessment and Improvement activities.
  • Coordinates the efforts of other emergency personnel in order to provide effective patient care.
  • Demonstrates effective and professional communication skills when interacting with patient, family, emergency personnel and Medical Center personnel.
  • Uses effective working relationships with all health care team members, patients and significant others.
  • Remains flexible in staffing patterns and assignments.
  • Practices effective problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Utilizes departmental policies/procedures in all problem solving solutions.
  • Participates in paramedic projects as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Adheres to Departmental and Hospital Service Excellence Initiatives/standards.

 
Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required 
  • Current N.J. MICP certification
  • Current Automobile license with no moving traffic violations
  • Emergency Vehicle Driver Training Course (CEVO or equivalent)
  • Ability to lift, move and carry patients as required in order to providing pre-hospital emergency care.
  • Demonstrated communication/writing skills.
  • Current AHA BLS, ACLS & PALS certifications
  • Hazardous Material - Training/Operations (Level I N.J. State Police Office of Emergency
    Management)
  • Incident Command System Training/NJ State Police, Office of Emergency Management
  • Both Hazardous Material Training Incident Command System Training CEVO must be completed
    within 4 months of hire date.

 

Englewood Health job postings provide a minimum rate to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses/incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources. Minimum rate: $33.00
