Job Summary:
The Registered Echo Technologist will perform the duties of a staff technologist and provide assistance to the supervisor/manager. EHMC employees throughout the Medical Center will use behaviors and interpersonal communication styles that are appropriate for a hospital environment and demonstrate courtesy, dignity and respect. AIDET will be used for all patient interactions to enhance the Patient Experience. The scope of practice of the Diagnostic Ultrasound Professional includes those procedures, acts and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience, and in which he/she has demonstrated competency.

Job Essentials:
1. Schedules appointments for patients.
2. Explains the procedure and prepares the patient physically and emotionally to obtain an optimal study.
3. Maintains all equipment and assures adequate supplies are obtained.
4. Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
5. Notifies concerned parties of all emergencies or problems that arise.
6. Utilizes resource material and personnel as indicated.
7. Use ultrasound machines (e.g., Doppler ultrasound) to examine veins and arteries in the arms, legs, abdomen, chest, heart and neck.
8. Record test results, maintain detailed logs, and ensure accuracy of diagnostic information.
9. Work with vascular surgeons, cardiologists, and radiologists for accurate diagnoses and treatment planning.
10. Evaluate blood flow, vascular pressures, and image quality; report preliminary findings to physicians.
11. Prepare preliminary findings reports.
12. Maintains a cheerful and professional atmosphere.
13. Communicates with other departments.
14. Recognizes emergency situations and acts appropriately.
15. Manages all aspects of the department with minimal supervision.
16. Performs other duties as acquired.
17. Position may require floating to cover multiple offsite locations including the Hospital, up to 10% annually
Education Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in vascular technology, diagnostic medical sonography, or a related field.
License/Certification/Registry:
- Credentialing through ARDMS or CCI
- 1 year of experience in Cardiac Ultrasound and/or Vascular Ultrasound required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, doctors, and other Medical Center personnel.
