Position Concept

The Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in billing cost reimbursement workforce development programs and analyzing the financial performance and status of all contracts as it relates to budgets, billings, modifications, monitoring, and forecasting, and recommending strategies and/or process improvements where appropriate. The Financial Analyst works with internal staff and external customers to provide customer service support and assist in providing requested financial data.

 

Essential Functions

  • The position is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager with contract budgets, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • The Financial Analyst prepares reports required by internal procedures and assists the Finance Manager in reviewing financial results to include the monthly financial statements for accuracy and clarity within the timeframes scheduled.
  • The Financial Analyst assists in the development of the annual operating budgets for all grants and contracts, and monthly forecasts.
  • Prepares and submits monthly billings to funding agencies as required by contracts. This also includes the preparation and entry of income and reclassifying journal entries.
  • Reviews and analyzes various internal and external reports that may include but not limited to census reports, compliance reports, staffing reports, revenue, or expenditure reports, and provides input on variances.
  • Point of contact for program fiscal monitoring to include coordination of gathering requested documents.
  • Responsible for understanding of contractual requirements.
  • Reconcile and close out grants/contracts at termination.

 

Position Specifications

Education:  Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited College or University, in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.  An Associate Degree with two years of experience OR High School Diploma with 6 years of similar work experience may be substituted in lieu of Bachelor's degree.

Experience:  Three to five years related experience at a company providing similar products and/or services.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Financial management skills, including monitoring budgets and reviewing financial reporting; understand non-profit balance sheets, income statements, and accounts receivable; grant/contract time reporting and payroll. Able to make decisions on procedural and technical levels.  Ability to handle multiple projects and work well under pressure, including working with interruptions and deadlines while producing quality, accurate results on schedule with attention to detail. Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office software, specifically MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.). Experience working with cost reimbursement contracts is helpful. Knowledge and experience of the government contracting process preferred. Superior business acumen/emotional intelligence and technical knowledge within area of responsibility. Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and deal with complex problems.

Other:  Must successfully pass a background screening process, including, but not limited to, state, local, and funder criminal background check requirements. Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.

Travel:  Must be able to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance and be able to drive for business purposes. Must maintain a valid state driver's license. Travel to assigned programs as required.

Physical Demands:   Requires standing, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Requires lifting/moving weight up to 25 lbs. Tasks may require extensive computer screen exposure.
