Job Details:GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Fleet Safety Manager is responsible for safety training, safety audits, safety analysis, and safety recognition for Dollar General Fleet. Fleet Safety Manager must be knowledgeable in DOT, FMCSA, and CSA rules and regulations to ensure Dollar General remains compliant, and meets all federal, state, and local requirements. The Fleet Safety Manager oversees fleet safety technology programs and leads a team of safety professionals while partnering with Operations, Compliance, Maintenance, Human Resources, and Risk Management to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Daily Duties and Tasks: Lead day-to-day administration and oversight of fleet safety technology programs, including Samsara safety cameras, event workflow, driver recognition, communication systems, navigation systems, user support, reporting, system adoption, and rollout activities.· Develops and monitors safety technology reporting, including event trends, coaching completion, supervisor compliance, driver behavior patterns, and site-level performance.
· Develops training, communications, reference materials, and follow-up processes to ensure Safety Supervisors, Operations, HR, and other field users apply fleet safety systems consistently.

People Leadership: Lead all team development, diversity, and performance management.
· Provide direct leadership to Safety Supervisors and ensure they are held accountable for assigned daily duties and tasks.
· Hire, develop. and conduct performance and development reviews for Safety Supervisors
· Manage workload distribution, provide coaching, and ensure growth opportunities through structured development plans.20%
Operational Safety Oversight: Provides cross-functional coordination and support to ensure consistent safety coverage, effective accident management, regulatory compliance, and adherence to fleet safety processes across Fleet
· Assists Senior Training Manager with enhanced staffing needs as identified to close any potential gaps in safety support for fleet network.
· Supports motor vehicle accident documentation and review by partnering with Safety, Operations, Compliance, HR, Maintenance, and Risk Management to ensure complete documentation, consistent follow-up, and standard process adherence.

Processes and Procedures: Identify gaps, recommend improvements, and execute rollouts supporting driver safety, training effectiveness, and operational compliance.· Monitor safety performance trends and program compliance to identify areas of concern or gaps in safety execution.
· Partner with field leaders and Safety Supervisors to address concerns through timely coaching, training, corrective action, or process improvement as appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
- Knowledge of Federal Motors Carriers Safety Administration, Department of Transportation, and Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) Program
- Must understand paper and electronic logs, Hours of Service, and SMITH System
- General working knowledge of dash-cam systems and program management
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and be very detail oriented
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to use personal computer for tracking and updating safety and training programs
WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:
- 3+ years Transportation Industry Safety experience required High School graduate or equivalent experience public speaking and/or classroom instruction experience preferred.
