Description
The District Manager is responsible for the profit and loss of the assigned district, while acting within the scope of Company objectives and policies to accomplish goals.
Job Responsibility
Oversee/Ensure:
• A culture that fosters Dollar General's brand.
• Consistent administration of human resources policies & practices.
• Exceptional customer service through the development of fun and friendly stores.
• Annual sales growth that meets or exceeds Company targets through exceptional operations and efficient flow processes.
• Superior visual merchandising presentation, product management and signing/pricing execution in each store.
• Effective planning and execution of Company objectives.
• Maximization of performance & productivity through Store Managers' commitment to sensible store scheduling.
• Development of Store Manager through proactive recruitment, selection and training of team members.
• Protection of Company assets through loss prevention and expense efficiencies.
• Identifying and developing new business opportunities within operational areas (i.e., distribution flow improvements, merchandising display efforts, store growth and real estate site selection, recruiting strategy, training and development priorities, employee relations, customer experience, systems implementation, etc.).
• Consistent and effective communication of Company priorities to store teams.
• Training and development to create strong visual merchandising presentations and product placements.
• Utilizing technology to train and develop strong communication avenues to keep teams informed of operational tasks.
• Develop Store Managers to ensure consistent execution of Dollar General expectations to provide exceptionally clean and organized stores for our customers and teams.

Working Conditions
• Requires weekly travel in a Company-provided vehicle with limited overnight stays.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling.
• Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as hand-held scanner, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, and U-boats (six-wheel carts).
• Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
• Occasional climbing using ladder up to heights of six feet.
• Fast-paced environment; moderate noise level.
• Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to slippery floor surfaces.
• May be exposed to extreme cold in freezers.
Job Qualifications
• Demonstrated results-oriented leadership including the ability to model total development and serve as a steward of Dollar General's mission and values.
• Demonstrated record of achieving performance goals and objectives.
• Proficient financial analysis skills to interpret operating statements and other financial reporting data, manage budgets, and control inventory.
• Demonstrated ability to produce desired results by leveraging resources, maintaining tough expense control, managing merchandise effectively, and defining and communicating clear expectations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills including a willingness to consistently provide superior customer service, the ability to react appropriately under pressure, and the ability to apply good judgment in ambiguous situations.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively work in collaboration with team to achieve objectives in a participative management style.
Education/Experience
• Four+ years retail management experience with progressively more responsibility, managing multi-unit operations in retail, grocery or convenience store operations with full P&L responsibility.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• “Big-box” retail management and/or equivalent education and experience combination will be considered.
License/Certification Required
Valid driver's license
