Description
Full-time (1.0 FTE), 7-hour day, 10-month, School Calendar Year Position
Assist with instructing juniors and seniors with rigorous and engaging classroom instruction, and hands-on skills that will prepare students to be college and career ready in the Building Construction industry
Collaborate with the Building Construction counterparts on maintaining a high quality program
Assist with providing supervision and classroom management to all students
Assist with classroom management in the classroom and work sites
Assist in monitoring students' academic progress including, but not limited to progress/marking period grades, attendance, hands-on performance skills
Assist with implementing 504 Accommodation Plans and IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) for students with diverse learning needs
Keep current with changes and developments in the Building Construction industry
Assist in communicating regularly with parents, teachers, home school counselors and all others involved with the education of all students
Uphold the BOCES core values: service, collaboration, leadership, and integrity
Carry out all other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certification; must possess or be eligible to obtain at least a Level 1 Teaching Assistant Certificate
Extensive experience with Building Trades is required
Experience in residential home building. Including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, roofing, and drywall.
Ability to handle heavy lifting and willingness to work out-of-doors is required
Experience, willingness and ability to work with secondary students in both classroom and various hands-on settings
