Job Description

Our Surgical Technology program is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support the educational environment for aspiring surgical technologists. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a clean, organized, and well-stocked lab, allowing students to focus on their studies and develop essential skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management:

    • Maintain accurate inventory levels of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.

    • Replenish stock as needed, ensuring all necessary items are readily available for lab activities.

    • Develop and implement efficient inventory tracking systems.

    • Organize and label supplies for easy identification and retrieval.

  • Reprocessing and Repackaging:

    • Clean, disinfect, and repackage reusable surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.

    • Ensure proper sterilization techniques are followed to maintain a sterile environment.

    • Inspect instruments for damage and report any issues to the lab instructor.

  • Lab Maintenance:

    • Maintain a clean and sanitary lab environment through regular sweeping, dusting, and mopping.

    • Dispose of biohazardous waste according to safety regulations.

    • Assist with setting up and preparing the lab for classes and demonstrations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience working in a medical or laboratory setting preferred.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.

  • Basic understanding of sterile techniques and infection control procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good physical stamina and ability to lift and carry moderate weights.

$15.00 Hourly
