What will you do?

  • Review and render decisions on minor development permits such as single detached and semi detached house development permit applications, as well as home improvement permits and portable signs
  • Review and research zoning issues related to business licenses
  • Review applications in consideration of the Zoning Bylaw, Municipal Government Act, Neighbourhood Area Structure Plans, Area Structure Plans and Area Redevelopment Plans
  • Render decisions regarding developments that are discretionary and may require limited variance
  • Provide assistance periodically to development planners by performing technical reviews of development permit applications
  • Provide customers with knowledgeable and timely response to their inquiries involving zoning, major and minor development questions and application procedures for development permits
  • Deal with complaints related to development, providing instructions regarding other City services and forwarding customers as required to the appropriate departments
  • Examine development approvals, evaluate current zoning, and ensure compliance with applicable acts and regulations
  • Review and issue curb crossing permits
  • Review and process requests for compliance certificates in consultation with the Zoning Bylaw
  • Perform other related duties as required
