Description

The Edmonton Waste Management Centre (EWMC) is a unique collection of waste processing and research facilities. Owned and operated by the City of Edmonton, the EWMC is an integral part of Edmonton's sustainable approach to waste management. We are looking for people across all our rich diversity to join the EWMC's family as a Millwright, where you will manage and optimize mechanical systems, focusing on high-efficiency initiatives. Your success in this role will be measured by your ability to perform all work tasks in a respectful and inclusive way.

What will you be doing?

  • Evaluating permit requests to ensure that all required safety measures, procedures, and controls are in place. This includes reviewing work scopes, risk assessments, and safety plans
  • Signing and creating permits, LOTO procedure training as well as performing orientations
  • Overseeing work to ensure compliance with permit conditions and safety protocols
  • Conducting inspections as needed and addressing any issues or deviations from the permit requirements
  • Drafting and preparing permits for various types of work, such as hot work, confined space entry, electrical maintenance, and other activities that require formal authorization
  • Examine and diagnose equipment for excessive vibration, temperature and speed and lubrication abnormalities under operating conditions; adjusts pulleys, belts and drive units as required
  • Coordinating maintenance schedules, managing repair tasks
  • Prepare sketches and diagrams; estimate materials and labour requirements for specific jobs
  • Perform related duties as required
