Help shape the future of Edmonton's landscape by ensuring our city's development is orderly and effectively manages surface drainage. This role is vital in protecting private property and coordinating with community partners to achieve high-quality grading outcomes.

As an Engineering Technologist II, you will manage the full life cycle of Lot Grading Plan applications, from technical review and rendering decisions to customer management. You will balance the interests of the public and applicants while applying engineering principles to support sustainable development. To remain agile, you will also perform field inspections and support continuous improvement initiatives within the Lot Grading unit.

What will you do?

  • Review and render decisions on Lot Grading Plans for infill, commercial, industrial, and multi-unit developments
  • Manage the application process within the City's database, ensuring all details are accurate and up to date
  • Act as the primary point of contact for EPCOR, City Drainage Planning, and other collaborators
  • Resolve complex grading issues by negotiating with applicants and applying independent thinking to approve creative design solutions
  • Provide expert technical advice on the Drainage Bylaw and lot grading guidelines to interested and/or affected parties
  • Conduct site inspections for rough and final grades to confirm compliance with approved plans
  • Issue enforcement actions, such as Notices to Comply or penalty fines, when required to ensure drainage safety
  • Contribute to the development of public education tools, including webpages, brochures, and technical reports
  • Support the Lot Grading unit's evolution by providing input on operational procedures and policy revisions
