Description

The City of Edmonton is looking for a highly motivated and strategic professional to join the Industrial Growth Hub as the Industrial Growth Hub Analyst. Reporting to the Industrial Growth Hub Program Manager, this role leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of programs, processes and reporting that support industrial investment, business expansion and long-term growth.

This role leads key initiatives within the Industrial Growth Hub - guiding projects from concept through to implementation, identifying opportunities for improvement and delivering high-quality reporting, strategic writing and advice to support informed decision-making. This role will support the advancement of business planning and project management including risk and change management.

Working as part of a team, this position plays a critical role in strengthening how the City attracts, supports and grows industrial businesses through clear insights, strong reporting and proactive leadership.

What will you do?

Lead Projects and Drive Outcomes

  • Lead the design, planning and execution of Industrial Growth Hub projects and service improvements
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines and success measures, and guide work through to completion
  • Identify gaps, opportunities and inefficiencies, and implement solutions that enhance industrial business support

Reporting and Measurement/Performance Leadership

  • Lead the development of regular reporting on Industrial Growth Hub activities and outcomes (monthly, quarterly and annual)
  • Own and evolve performance measurement frameworks, including KPI development, tracking and reporting for the Industrial Growth Hub and Industrial Investment Action Plan
  • Implement tools and systems to improve consistency, transparency and usability of data
  • Monitor and communicate progress against program goals and prepare reporting for senior leadership and Council

Strategic Writing and Communications

  • Lead the development of high-quality written materials including briefing notes, Council reports, presentations and strategic documents
  • Translate complex economic and technical information into clear, concise and decision-ready content
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of messaging across all Industrial Growth Hub materials
  • Review and provide strategic input into industrial marketing and promotional materials

Industrial Research and Strategic Support

  • Guide the use of industrial economic data, market insights and sector trends to inform strategies and recommendations
  • Synthesize research and input from multiple sources into clear insights and actionable recommendations
  • Support the development of industrial strategies, action plans and policy recommendations
  • Contribute to business cases and value propositions that support investment attraction and business retention and expansion
  • Support investment attraction and business retention and expansion efforts through the development of materials and strategic insights including templates and proposal development

Inquiry Coordination and Partner Relationships

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all industrial clients. Directly support industrial clients and partners in answering their inquiries, providing warm connections to experts in the City who can assist them, and prescreening / collection of information to support warn transfer to investment attraction or business retention and expansion teams
  • Build and manage relationships with internal teams, external partners and industry partners
  • Help coordinate investor meetings, site visits and stakeholder engagements

Policy, Process and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and support the development of policies and recommendations to improve the industrial investment experience
  • Ensure alignment with City policies, procedures, procurement and governance requirements
  • Continuously improve internal processes, tools and systems to enhance team effectiveness
  • Apply a GBA+ lens to all section strategy, policy, and research activities

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Urban Planning, Marketing or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience within a municipal or private industry setting, leading economic development, industrial land use planning and development, marketing and strategic business planning and implementation

Assets:

  • Business Analysis, Project Management, Change Management or Economic Development related credentials and certifications
  • Demonstrated experience in the public and/or private sector to understand complex economic development issues and gaps and the ability to implement actions to resolve them
  • Experience working with industrial stakeholders in the Edmonton Region

  • Detailed knowledge of policy development and practices and their potential impact on local businesses
  • Possesses strong business analysis and project management skills including change management, risk management, performance measurement, policy development, business case development, strategic and business planning
  • Exhibits strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather, interpret, and utilize data to inform decision-making
  • Possess a deep understanding of performance planning, monitoring, reporting, evaluation, documentation, and improvement efforts
  • Significant skill and ability with Google applications (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, etc.)
